Tell me again

Why should I love you

When all love ever seems to cause me is pain

Fills me up with hope of what could be

Then takes it all away

Cause it's just a part of the game

Now I see

Could love be the reason

Sane men lose their sanity

Become fuck boys and dogs

All for the sake of pure vanity

All throughout my twenties

I searched for a love

A love I thought could fix

This frightened

Still vulnerable little boy

Locked deep within the depths of me

Up to this point

I had yet to see him blossom into a man

Beautifully broken

Oh so beautifully broken

Yet equipped with a heart so pure

Then in came this beast called love

Who took it

Crushed it

And let it slip through it's hands like sand

I got to thinking

Maybe there's a lesson here

One of self love

That I still hadn't learned

Or haven't yet mastered

In order to become a better man

Because now I finally understand

That if you truly want to be loved

You have to love yourself first

Otherwise no one else can
